Information in English regarding Skridsko- & Bandyskola
Learn to skate – and discover bandy!
Every winter, children in Sollentuna and the surrounding area have the chance to learn how to skate and try bandy – a fast, exciting team sport similar to ice hockey, but played with a ball instead of a puck, and on a larger ice field. Bandy is hugely popular in Scandinavia and is known as the world’s fastest team sport.
Helenelunds IK runs a much-loved skating and bandy school each winter for children aged 4–8. No matter their age or experience, the focus is always on having fun on the ice while developing skills at their own pace.
For the youngest
Children start in Bandis Skridskokul (“Skating Fun”), where they learn to skate through games and simple exercises. In the beginning, just finding their balance on skates is enough of a challenge – but they learn quickly with the help of our friendly, experienced coaches.
For the little older
Those ready for the next step join Bandykul (“Bandy Fun”), where we add a stick and ball to the training, introducing the basics of the game. This is where the fun really kicks in! In their final season, children can also try playing small-scale matches (3-on-3) against players from other local clubs.
Who can join?
Bandy is perfect for both boys and girls. Bandis Skridskokul and Bandykul are open to all children aged 4–8. Older children train and play matches with one of our youth teams.
New: Girls-only training group!
This year we’re introducing a dedicated group just for girls – a safe, encouraging space where everyone can feel confident, take part, and have fun together.
When and where?
We train at Sollentunavallen. The season begins in mid-October with one indoor rink session per week. Once the outdoor ice is ready, we move outside and train twice a week – Tuesdays from 4:30–5:30 PM and Saturdays from 9:00–10:00 AM – until spring arrives, usually in mid-March.
Equipment
Children need sturdy skates, a helmet, and warm clothes suitable for the weather. Bear in mind that even in cold conditions, children quickly warm up while skating!
Cost
The participation fee is 1,850 SEK and includes a stick, neck guard, shirt, and water bottle. If your child joined last season and still has their equipment, the fee is reduced to 1,250 SEK.
Registration
You can register your child via this link. Early sign-up is welcome, even before the season starts.
PS: Even if your child took part last winter, a new registration is needed for the upcoming season.
